How to join a Minecraft Java server
Your first multiplayer adventure is just a server address away.
Start with Java Edition
BestMCServerList lists Minecraft: Java Edition servers. You’ll need Java Edition installed and an account that can access multiplayer. A server’s listed versions tell you which Minecraft clients it accepts.
Find a community that fits
Use game-mode filters to narrow the list. Survival and SMP communities focus on a shared world; Skyblock starts you on an island; Creative servers focus on building. Open a listing to read the server’s description and rules before joining.
Add the server
- Click the address on its listing to copy it. A nondefault port appears after a colon, such as
play.example.com:25566. - Open Minecraft: Java Edition and select Multiplayer.
- Select Add Server, enter a name you’ll recognize, and paste the address into Server Address.
- Choose Done, select the saved server, then click Join Server.
Having trouble connecting?
Check the address, port, and supported game version. Some servers require a modpack or a whitelist application. An offline status may mean maintenance or a delayed status check. Visit the server’s own website or Discord for help.
Support your new home
If you enjoy a community, visit its listing and vote using your Minecraft username. You can vote for each server once every 24 hours. Votes support the server ranking in the directory.
